Is this favoritism in a workplace?

Absolutely nothing you can do about it. You signed a contract, they signed the contract and both of you have lived up to your obligations under the contract. The fact that other people kept their jobs or got promoted is of no consequence at all. They might have had better qualifications, a better work attitude, who knows? Fact is, they have done nothing wrong.
